Danielle is skilled in working with teens and adults from all backgrounds. She is comfortable with serving clients as old as age 15 and as young as age 115. Danielle uses cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy and DBT techniques as her fundamental approach to treating clients who struggle with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, school issues, marital issues, work place issues, complicated grief and parenting challenges.

Danielle encourages her clients to embrace the challenges they experience in life and to use those challenges as opportunities for personal and professional growth. She uses effective therapeutic techniques to help clients explore their thinking patterns and improve their decision making skills. She strives to help others reach their full potential and believes that everyone deserves to live a healthy, productive, and fulfilling life.

Danielle’s social work career spans more than 24 years of serving children, families, and adults in various settings. Her clinical work history is robust and includes experience in: outpatient therapy, in-patient & partial mental health hospitalization treatment, couples counseling, case management services, school social worker, medical social worker, and trainer for community based mental health providers across the state of NC.

Danielle obtained her BS in Psychology from North Carolina Central University in 1994, a Historically Black College & University (HBCU) located in Durham, NC. In 1996, she graduated from the University of Georgia with her Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW). She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers, and a clinical supervisor for practicing social workers seeking to obtain their LCSW licensure. Danielle is also an active member of the National Association of Social Workers, a former board member with the NC chapter of NASW, and a former member of the Community Advisor Board for the School of Social Work at UNCC. Danielle has recently completed a 3-year term appointed by the governor of NC as a board member of the NC Commission for Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Services. The mission of the board is to promote excellence in prevention, treatment and rehabilitation programs for persons with mental illness, developmental disabilities and substance abuse disorders in NC.

In her personal life, Danielle is an active member of her church and her sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She enjoys going to the beach, playing board games, working on puzzles, adult coloring books, listening to audio books, and being a proud competition dance mom. She and her husband, Troy are parents to three children (an adult son, and two daughters; a freshman in college and a sophomore in high school).

Danielle strives daily to embrace the challenges of life with and enthusiastic approach. She finds inspiration and strength in life’s challenges and encourages others to look optimistically at the challenges present in their own lives.
