DO YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ARE STRAPPED ON A ROLLER COASTER OF ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION AND YOU CAN'T GET OFF THE RIDE? DO YOU WANT SOMETHING DIFFERENT BUT CAN'T SEEM TO MAKE IT HAPPEN? We can feel out of control because of life changes, relationships, and traumatic events. Life can also feel out of control when we are stuck in unhealthy thoughts, emotions, actions, and responses.

OUR COPING MECHANISMS CAN BECOME UNHEALTHY. Sometimes we develop unhealthy patterns when using things outside of ourselves to help us cope and experience immediate relief. This may include alcohol, marijuana, pills, food, porn, self-harm, exercise, gaming, social media, shopping, and gambling. We may also hyper-focus on relationships with others. This is called co-dependency.

YOU NEED SOMEWHERE SAFE TO TALK ABOUT THE HARD STUFF. Sometimes we just can't figure out how to get off the roller coaster and then stay off the ride. Every person has difficulties that feel overwhelming at some point in their lives. Being willing to ask for assistance is a courageous gift to yourself.

My name is Laura Wesson and I have lived in the Lake Norman Area for over 25 years. I love helping people become healthier versions of themselves. Having worked to support families of people struggling with addiction, I find it gratifying to help people struggling with anxiety and depression related to challenges in life and relationships. I regularly attend training to discover new and effective treatments for anxiety and depression that can help people experience relief.

My licensures include Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate, Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist, and National Certified Counselor. I obtained an undergraduate degree from North Carolina State University in Math Education and a graduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in Clinical Mental Health with a concentration in Addictions. Areas of treatment include anxiety, depression, stress, grief and loss, life changes, addiction, and relationship challenges. My approaches to therapy include Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy. I offer face to face and telehealth counseling services.

A little about what I loveā€¦ learning something new every day, my family, my dogs, all of the life lessons and analogies found in nature, and seeing the beauty that emerges from "trusting the process".

I am located in the Denver office. Call today for a free phone consultation at 704-266-4208

You are worth your own effort and I look forward to being a part of your journey!
